About The Project

The districts of south & north Dinajpur, Malda and Murshidabad of Eastern Plains region belong to 150 disadvantaged districts of the country, wherein the present research project has been conceptualized. The existing variability in farming systems and associated livelihood opportunities are being influenced by techno-agro-climatic factors as well as sub-regional variations in terms of land capability, resource endowment and externalities like vulnerability context. The goal of the present research proposal is to formulate customized livelihood empowerment models based on resource potential through cross-sector partnership.

The cross-sector partnership researchwilldeliver:

  • Generation of cluster specific validated technology options specific to target groups in developing sustainable livelihood basket
  • Development of appropriate community based institutional arrangement (e.g., Gramodyog Samity) for implementation of research outputs at the grassroots levels
  • Development of capabilities of the stakeholders to implement research results
  • Creation of knowledge dissemination mechanism (e.g., Information Resource Hub, Community radio station etc.) for wider replicability in the similar agro-ecosystems
  • Registration of research process leading to value addition to the research outputs
