Sealed tender is invited from contractor/supplier/company having adequate technical experience by the Principal Investigator, RKVY sponsored project (Memo No. 590 PLB(Dte)/RKVY dated 12.01.2009). The tender should be submitted to Dr. Joydeb Ghosh, Principal Investigator and Lecturer, Deptt. of Agril. Entomology, Uttar Banga Krishi Viswavidyalaya, P.O.- Pundibari, Dist.- Cooch Behar before the date of tender opening. The tender will be opened on 9th October, 2009 at the Deptt. of Agril. Entomology. Authority reserves the right to reject any or all the tenders without assigning any reason.

 

Specification

 

A)     GROWTH CHAMBER FOR INSECT, WALK IN TYPE, WITH CONTROLLED TEMPERATURE, RELATIVE HUMIDITY AND ILLUMINATION SYSTEM (OPTIONAL)

     

            These Growth Chamber are developed for rearing of insect parasites/predators which are exploited in the IPM programme on rice, vegetables etc. under this project.

 

GENERAL SPECIFICATION:

 

  1. Construction:

These Growth Chambers are sturdy in construction. Working chamber is made of epoxy coated Marine ply and the exterior is of polished Teak Ply to resist the weather effects, best quality high density foam insulation is made between the two walls. The door opens fully for unobstructed access and is having 30cm x 45cm multi pane observing window. The door is fitted with neoprene rubber gasket for positive sealing and preventing atmospheric infiltration. Provision is kept at both sides to accommodate fluorescent & incandescent light banks for photoperiodic studies. All the controls and indicators are mounted on Control Panel.

  1. Forced Draft Circulation:

Effective equalization of chamber temperature and humidity is maintained by a smooth running multi vane blower fan which operate independently and continuously to keep the air circulating evenly, further aiding into rapid temperature/humidity recovery after opening the door.

  1. Cooling System:

Two oil cooled self contained continuous running hermitically sealed refrigeration compressor with adequately dimensioned evaporating & condensing units are employed to produce balanced cooling within the working chamber.

  1. Heating System:

Easily replaceable sealed air heaters made out of Nickel/ Chromium resistance wire is provided to obtain temperature above room.

  1. Humidification System:

This is caused by producing water mist vapour within a remote system and subsequently introducing into the working chamber. The reservoir attached to the humidifier is provided with float valve for direct connection to water source.

  1. Temperature and Relative Humidity Setting and Regulation System:

The temperature/ relative humidity is set, controlled and measured within the Growth Chamber by a sensitive Microprocessor based digital controller, which denotes actual temperature in 0c and relative humidity directly in % RH. This is mounted at the control panel and provides for the set and actual values.

  1. Illumination and Control :

Photosynthetic illumination is provided by a lamp banks mounted at both the sides of the Growth Chamber. The lamp banks consist of incandescent and fluorescent lamps. Manually operated switches connected to lamp assembly produce different lighting combinations of varying composition and intensity. A step-less dimmer stat further helps in light dark cycle or photoperiod is automatically controlled by a 24 hours programmable timer, suitable for setting at 4,6,8 & 12 hours interval.

  1. Safety Device:
    1. High limit thermostat is provided in each chamber to protect overheating of the test materials in case of the original controller fails to work.
    2. A built in electronic delay relay device protects the compressor in each chamber from abrupt supply voltage experienced prior to immediately after restoration of power in the event of load shedding.
  2. Control Panel:

This panel consists of operational switches for temperature, relative humidity and illumination system, Microprocessor based Digital Controller and Indicating Lamps.
