Film RESONATING RESILIENCE (16 minutes/ English) has been awarded with the prestigious UN FAO – OSIRIS Award (United Nations’ Food and Agricultural Organisation) at the 37th AGROFILM festival in Bratislava/Nitra, Slovak Republic, a highest level of honour for outstanding contributions to global food security and innovations and applications of modernAgricultural technology.
SYNOPSIS OF THE FILM: RESONATING RESILIENCE
The story begins with people of the two villages – Khagribari and Singimari in Cooch Behar district. Once these two small villages, Located in the fringe area of Rasamati Forest, most of the total cultivable land is under rain fed condition with lack of irrigation Water and frequent dry spell in the rabi season, caused severe crop loss. Improper drainage system was another hindrance. The Farmers became jobless; youths were migrated to other places. With the help of Krishi Vigyan Kendra of Cooch Behar under Uttar Banga Krishi Viswavidyalay, a project was launched – NICRA (National Innovations on Climate Resilient Agriculture, funded by ICAR) to fight out the resilient climatic changes in this terrain area. With the adoption of modern technological and scientific measures, this hindrance of agricultural vulnerability was sorted out and now, the farmers of the area could able to grow crops even in the hostile climatic conditions, including in the days of draught and flood. The film is a motivational one, helps to bring awareness to the Farming community at large of their sustenance and livelihood Development.
