17th Scientific Advisory Committee Meeting of Uttar Dinajpur Krishi Vigyan Kendra



17th Scientific Advisory Committee Meeting of Uttar Dinajpur Krishi Vigyan Kendra was organized on March 17, 2021 at the Conference Hall of Uttar Dinajpur Krishi Vigyan Kendra. Dr. Swarup Kumar Chakrabarti, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of Uttar Banga Krishi Viswavidyalaya, Pundibari, Cooch Behar graced the occasion as Chairman of the meeting. Prof. Prabhat Kumar Pal, Director of Extension Education, UBKV was Chief Guest and Mr. Goutam Ghosh, DDM, NABARD, Uttar Dinajpur was Special Guest. Representative from different line departments, Senior Scientist & Head of Malda KVK and representative from farmers were present at the meeting. Due to Covid-19 situation Dr. Abhijit Haldar, Principal Scientist, ICAR-ATARI, Kolkata, Dr. Tapan Kumar Hath, Chairman, monitoring committee for Uttar Dinajpur KVK, Dr. Wasim Reza, Member, monitoring committee for Uttar Dinajpur KVK and Mr. Manas Kumar Das, LDM Uttar Dinajpur joined the meeting in virtual mode. At the onset Dr. Surajit Sarkar, Senior Scientist and Head, Uttar Dinajpur Krishi Vigyan Kendra welcomed all the guests and started the session with recommendation of last SAC meeting and action taken against them. Then he presented Annual report 2020 before the Scientific Advisory Committee where respective SMSs presented their ongoing and completed OFTs and FLDs. After the Annual Report presentation the session was open for discussion on the FLDs and OFTs. Dr. Avijit Halder, Principal Scientist, ATARI-Kolkata suggested that innovative technologies for OFTs and impact assessment of the same at field level. Soil health should be taken into consideration while planning on OFTs and FLDs and holistic approaches should be taken into next programmes. Hon’ble Vice Chancellor emphasized that OFT’s source of technologies and its implication be considered first. He emphasized on entrepreneur approach aspects of Agriculture and impressed upon technology inventory for KVKs with the help of University. KVK staff and farmers were very much appreciated by him for working exceptionally well through COVID-19 pandemic situation. Dr. Pal has emphasized upon technology adoption at field level and its impact assessment, more liaison with NABARD and procedural method in case of OFTs. Farmers and Farm women had also put their views regarding KVK work and inputs they required from KVK’s end. Meeting was concluded with vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Dhananjoy Mandal, SMS (Plant Protection)..
